3D models of outdoor environments can be used in a number of fields
such as site simulation and virtual walk-through. However, such 3D
models are often made manually with high costs, so recently
automatic 3D modeling has been widely investigated.
We propose the 3D modeling method of wide area outdoor environments by
using an omnidirectional laser rangefinder and an omnidirectional
multi-camera system (OMS) which can capture a wide-angle
high-resolution image, the range and color data of outdoor environments
are efficiently acquired. Moreover,
by using RTK-GPS and gyro sensor to measure the position and orientation
of the sensor system, the 3D model of wide area outdoor senes is
efficiently generated.

In this presentation, a tele-echography framework that
provides ultrasound image diagnosis in the ubiquitous multimedia
computing network, is described. The system consists of a wearable
computer, a hand-held size ultrasound imaging device and wireless
networking. To adapt various imaging media in the ubiquitous computing
environment, raw echo data are transmitted instead of pre-rendered image.

There are few radiologists, so nonradiologists perform the reading and
the diagnosis on the scanned positron emission tomography (PET) images.
Furthermore, there is less modelers who analyze quantitatively dynamic
PET images based on compartment model. Teleradiology has been developed
mainly in order to cover the loss of radiologists. Teleradiology means
that the scanned image is transmitted from the examination site to an
expert site where radiologists will perform the reading. The reports are
sent back to the examination site where physicians can prescribe for a
patients. In this talk, I'll summarize the background about PET data
analysis, and propose a teleradiology system for quantitative analysis.

Mobile Ad-hoc network (MANET), that is configured autonomously by
wireless mobile terminals, have been a focus of attention in the
ubiquitous network. MANET is used to complement or coexistence of the
infrastructure, called hybrid ad-hoc network. In the hybrid ad-hoc
network, there are gateways to connect up MANET to the Internet. In the
case that hybrid ad-hoc network complements the infrastructure, mobile
terminals should communicate to the gateway stably.
In this research, I have been designing algorithm to detect the
stability of the routes from mobile terminals to gateways. By using this
algorithm, mobile terminals will keep connecting to the Internet for
longer time. Now, I investigate terminals conditions that need to detect
this stability. In this presentation, I report results given through the
simulation.

In the English writing system, spaces mark word boudaries and provide
readers with important cues in reading. For example, readers detect
spaces in periphreal vision and decide where to move next in a text.
Consequently, the removal of such cues from normal meaningful texts
slows down reading and changes eye fixation patterns within the text.
The present study explores the effect of insertion of spaces on reading
Japanese texts, in which word boundaries are not generally marked by
spaces. Native speakers of Japanese read both spaced and unspaced
texts, and their eye movement patterns during reading were recorded.
The results showed that the insertion of spaces into texts facilitates
reading. Possible interpretations of the results and implications for
internet application will be discussed.

We consider a discrete-time system with a delay, in which the future
evolution of the state not only depends on their current, but also on
their past.
One example of such the time-delay system is the feedback control system
that includes networks.
Since the delay is always considered detrimental to stability, it is
important to investigate the effect of the time-delay in order to safely
and accurately control the system.
Then, this presentation shows two types of stability criterion for a
discrete-time system with a single delay: one is a delay-independent,
and the other is a delay-dependent, which both are derived by a concept of
Razumikhin Theorem.
Such criterion are very useful when we want to obtain a quick assurance
that the delayed term will not destabilize the whole system.
