    The program "Exploiting New Frontiers in Bioscience" accepted for the MEXT "21st century COE program".

    The project "Educational Program to Promote Creativity and International Competitiveness in Information Science" of Graduate School of Information Science selected by the MEXT Support Program for improving Graduate School Education "IT specialist program to promote Key Engineers as Security Specialists" selected for the MEXT program for fostering IT specialists.

    Integration of three departments into one department consisting of three research categories. Settlement of the international course where all activities in the school, including entrance exams, are supported in English.

    Department of Science and Technology, Graduate School of Science and Technology established and students accepted (The Graduate School of Information Science, Graduate School of Biological Sciences and the Graduate School of Materials Science merged together)
