日本文化と”京都・堀川寺之内”　

　西暦700年代に創業した、日本最古の職人らが調製する、日本の茶道「茶の湯」と「礼(禮)法」に関する品です。

All items are prepared by the oldest Japanese artisans, one of which hasbeen continuing since the 8th century, and is related to Japanese Sado,“Chanoyu” and “Reiho”, which are the concepts of Japanese manners andtea ceremony.

　西暦７９０年代から1869年頃まで、”神”のように敬われた天皇が居住していた京都は、武家の主人である天皇等のために、職人達は命をかけて繊細でエレガントな別格の品々を開発し、ま た国内で考えられる最上の素材が集められました。

In Kyoto, where the God-like Emperors had been living for over a thousandyears, artisans made the best efforts to develop supreme items of eleganceand sensitivity for the imperial family, which are masters of the samuraiand people brought the utmost materials they could possibly find.

その営みは１２００年間連綿と子供から孫へ受け継がれ、昇華されたので、一般には知られていないような日本最高峰の生活文化や素材もあります。

また京都は”茶道”御家元の居住する「茶の湯のメッカ」です。Kyoto is also “Mecca of Chanoyu” where the grand tea master lives.

「茶の湯」は、和歌、能楽、香道、花、書道、禅、建築、造園、室内調度、指物、表装、文房四宝、陶磁器、漆器、料理、菓子、和装、礼法、古美術など、古い日本の生活文化のほとんどを包括し、現 在でも多用しています。

“Chanoyu” comprehends and even currently uses most of the old Japanesecultures: waka (Japanese short poem), nogaku, kodo, kado (flowerarraingement), shodo(calligraphy), zen, architecture, landscapearchitecture, room arrangement, sashimono, hyoso, bunbo-shiho (kind ofstationary), ceramic ware, lacquer ware, cooking, confectionery, Japaneseclothing, manners and antique.

”堀川寺之内”は「千利休」の生んだ「表千家」「裏千家」のお家元が住む付近を指し、国内外に有名な「西陣」地区にも該当します。

“Horikawa-Teranouchi” is the place where the tea masters of two schools oftea ceremony are living. Both schools, “Omote-Senke” and “Ura-Senke,”are established by “Sen no Rikyu.” That place is located in “Nishijin”area, which is internationally famous.

そこにはまた家元周辺の人々が使用する、他に類のない上質の日本の伝統文 化が存在します。

In that place, there are exquisite traditional customs performed by peopleclose to grand masters, which we could scarcely find elsewhere.

京の伝統文化のほとんどがこの地に息づいています。

Almost all traditions and cultures of Kyoto originate in that place.

Tsuchida-ya

Brand of Japanese culture. Founded by Tsuchida Senjiro, who had seasoned knowledge about Japanese culture such as Sado (tea ceremony), calligraphic works/paintings, antiques and etc more than 100 years ago, Tsuchida-ya has been introducing truly traditional Japanese culture from Kyoto, one of the most historic cities in Japan.
