Image Inpainting is the process of replacing unknown regions in an image by some plausible content. It has many applications, such as old material restoration or photo manipulation, and is now a mature subject, inpainting tools being included in classical image editing softwares. The process is also of great interest for the restoration or editing of videos, although in this case many problems are still open.
In this talk, I will first provide a panorama of classical image inpainting techniques. A special emphasis will be put on the ability of existing methods to simultaneously restore both the geometry and the texture of images. Then, I will present a recent approach to the video inpainting problem. This approach makes it possible to remove objects from complex videos, possibly containing camera motion, moving objects and dynamic textures.
