故山口英先生(元情報科学研究科教授)がインターネットの殿堂入り
Dr. Suguru Yamaguchi has been selected as one of the INTERNET HALL of FAME Inductees. (2019/9/27)

2019年9月27日、Internet Societyは、2019年の「インターネットの殿堂(Internet Hall of Fame)」入りメンバーとして、元情報科学研究科教授の故山口英(やまぐちすぐる)先生を選出しました。サイバーセキュリティ研究の先駆者として、またその展開におけるグローバルリーダーとして、山口先生は、アジアおよび世界のインターネットのセキュリティを強化する上で不可欠な役割を果たしました。生前の精力的な活動が忘れられることなく国際的に高く評価された結果、今回の選出に至りました。

山口先生は、1986年に大阪大学基礎工学部情報工学科を卒業。1992年に奈良先端大の情報科学センター助手となり、2000年より情報科学研究科インターネット工学研究室の教授、日本のインターネット基盤の確立・発展に貢献、特にセキュリティ分野で指導的役割を果たされましたが、2016年5月に急逝されました。 Dr. Suguru Yamaguchi (deceased) has been selected for induction into the 2019 Internet Hall of Fame by the Internet Society for his valuable contributions as a cybersecurity research pioneer and global leader in its deployment. He founded the Asia Internet Interconnection Initiatives (AI3), which conducts Asia Pacific broadband Internet research and educational network projects via satellite. Dr. Suguru Yamaguchi played an integral role in increasing the security of the Internet in Asia and around the world. He was a faculty member of the NAIST Graduate School of Informarion Science since 1992 until his sudden passing in 2016.
