Investigation of Cross Modulation for SC-FDMA Signals in Radio over Fiber Mobile Fronthaul

Analog-type RoF link is promising solution for broad bandwidth, simple configuration of remote antenna site and low latency transmission. However, nonlinearity property in E/O device causes distortion due to cross modulation. In general, performance deterioration due to the cross modulation is serious in case if multi-carrier transmission rather than single carrier. Although many articles have reported the cross modulation and its countermeasure, cross modulation effect has not evaluated when the SC-FDMA signals are transmitted through RoF link using an external modulator. This thesis investigates transmission performance of RoF mobile fronthaul for transmitting the SC-FDMA signals in terms of its error vector magnitude (EVM) and bit error rate (BER).
