A route discovery technique by estimating link quality based on fuzzy logic for Pedestrian to Vehicle communication

Research in the field of Ad-Hoc network is becoming popular day by day due to its wide range of application support. Vehicular networking is one of the most important enabling technologies required to implement a variety of applications related to vehicles, vehicle traffic, drivers, passengers and pedestrians. Vehicular communication systems represent one of the most desirable technologies when the safety, efficiency and comfort of everyday road travel need to be improved. To date, the majority of VANET research focuses on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) or Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication while Vehicle to Pedestrian (V2P) communication can also co-exist in addition to it. It is not effectively applied the existing routing protocols of MANETs into VANETs due to its rapidly changing topology. Attention is focused on the routing level of VANET and we proposed a route discovery technique by considering the VANET dynamics based on fuzzy logic. The proposed scheme has used Pedestrian to Vehicle communication (P2V) environment to evaluate its performance as there is no complete work yet on Pedestrian to Vehicle (P2V) communication requirements. The simulation results confirm that our proposed method provides higher packet reachability and satisfies end to end delay requirement in such scenario.
