発表題目：Evaluation of Mobile Data Offloading with Multipath TCP in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

発表概要：Wireless networks have become a very important component of modern commu- nications systems. Several technologies are available, each one with particular features in terms of coverage range, transmission power, modulation and ac- cess schemes. These differences in technical parameters introduce heterogeneous scenarios where several types of network nodes and mobile devices coexist. Fur- thermore, many modern mobile devices have several built-in wireless interfaces. Nevertheless, current Internet protocols, such as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), can manage connections only over one interface. A recent protocol called Multipath TCP (MPTCP) overcomes this limitation, and it is able to use several interfaces simultaneously. In this thesis, we study the use of Multipath TCP for data offloading in a heterogeneous wireless scenario. The aim of this research is to investigate the gains observed both from the user and radio access network per- spectives. To this end, we conducted experiments over real networks, including a commercial network and a dedicated laboratory testbed. Performance results are presented under different network and radio conditions. Relevant conclusions are drawn for the implementation of MPTCP in current and future communications systems.
