| 概要(Abstract) | This talk introduces the work of the Global Smart Lab at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, an interdisciplinary research lab exploring the intersection of art, design, AI, immersive technologies, and hybrid living. The presentation will showcase projects focused on inclusive XR design, healthy ageing, wellbeing, digital heritage, virtual exhibitions, and socially engaged innovation. Through examples including VR shopping experiences for older adults and international collaborative XR projects, the talk will discuss how emerging technologies can support more inclusive, accessible, and meaningful futures across physical and virtual environments. |

Professor Yuanyuan Yin is Professor of Design and Director of the Global Smart Lab at University of Southampton. Her interdisciplinary research explores inclusive design, emerging technologies, and social innovation, with particular expertise in healthy ageing, virtual and mixed reality, service innovation, and human-centred AI. She has led and co-led research projects funded by UKRI, ESRC, Innovate UK, and the British Council, securing over £1.5 million in research funding. Yuanyuan’s work focuses on how design can support more inclusive, equitable, and future-oriented societies through socially engaged and technologically informed innovation. Alongside her research leadership, she has extensive experience in design education, curriculum development, and international collaboration, and previously served as Head of Research in the Design Department at Winchester School of Art.
The Global Smart Lab is an interdisciplinary research platform that explores the intersection of design, immersive technologies, AI, and social innovation. In Yuanyuan’s guest lecture, she will introduce the vision and current research activities of the Global Smart Lab, alongside selected projects exploring inclusive futures, immersive experiences, and emerging design innovation. |
