題目(Title) Geometric Algebra: The Swiss Army Knife of Geometry and Physics Computation
概要(Abstract) Science and engineering students learn a mix of tools to work with geometry, such as vectors, matrices, complex numbers, quaternions, and more. But what if one framework could unify them all? This talk introduces Geometric Algebra, with a focus on Projective Geometric Algebra (PGA), as a modern, matrix-free alternative to traditional methods. We’ll explore how PGA simplifies geometric computations in fields like computer graphics, robotics, physics, and others, while simultaneously reducing the size of your codebase. No prior experience with quaternions or advanced math is needed - just bring your curiosity.

講演者紹介(Introduction of Lecturer) Martin Roelfs did his PhD in Lattice QCD at the KU Leuven, where he first started realizing the power of GA for computational physics. He is the author of several articles on (P)GA including "Graded Symmetry Groups: Plane and Simple", and is the author of the kingdon GA Python package. He currently works as a research engineer at the strategic research centre Flanders Make and as a postdoc at the University of Antwerp.
