title: Realization of comfortable autonomous vehicles by reducing motion sickness using posture control strategy
abstract: In recent years, autonomous personal mobility vehicle (APMV) is becoming popular in shared spaces etc. However, it has been reported that there is concern about motion sickness due to the increase in subtasks while riding in APMV. APMV is considered to be more affected of body motion than car passengers. Therefore, a motion sickness reduction method is developed in this study. This method based on a posture control strategy of the passenger. Especially, construct model that can predict passenger posture due to vehicle motion and the passenger doing a subtask riding on the APMV. Previous research has proposed a conventional model that predicts changes in the passenger's head posture from vehicle lateral acceleration (posture prediction model). However, conventional model is designed for car drivers only. In addition, it is difficult to apply the conventional model to passengers of APMV. Therefore, this study aims to construct a model which can predicts posture changes from vehicle motion for the passenger of the APMV. Therefore, I measured the posture change of the passenger of the APMV. Furthermore, the measured data were used to optimize the parameters of the posture prediction model for the APMV passengers.

title:Path following control of ROV considering cable routing for inspection of multiple cylindrical underwater structures
abstract: Underwater structures such as steel pipes supporting bridges are expected to lose strength due to corrosion. In recent years, an increasing number of underwater robots have been employed to inspect these structures. However, it is not easy to maneuver an underwater robot in turbid water by relying on images from a camera attached to the robot. The goal of this research is to construct a support system for inspection of underwater structures by underwater robots. The target underwater robot is a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) that can be remotely controlled via cables. obstacles and objects to be inspected, making maneuvering difficult. To mitigate these problems, implementation of maneuvering aids is needed. This presentation clarifies the problems of inspection systems for underwater structures and discusses anticipated challenges, using field inspection experiments as examples.

研究対象にする水中ロボットは、テザーケーブルを介して、遠隔の操縦が可能なROV(Remotely operated underwater vehicle)である。

title: Human-machine Cooperative Control for Object Grasping by an Underwater Robot
abstract: In recent years, due to the aging of divers and the dangers of underwater work, the use of underwater robots for precision work, such as picking artifacts from undersea ruins and picking up undersea garbage, is being considered. Although there are some examples of its use in real environments, they are remotely controlled by humans on board or from land, which leads heavy load on the operator. Therefore, operators require assistance from a machine. This research aims to realize a human-machine cooperative control method for a remotely operated underwater robot (ROV) for object grasping tasks near the seafloor. To achieve high precision work assistance by underwater robots, they need sensing techniques to measure the distance to the object and robust control to align their posture according to the posture of the object even in the disturbance are important. However, no human-machine cooperative control method has been established for object grasping tasks that involve mechanical interaction in close proximity to an object. Our system aims to improve efficiency by allowing human operators to search for objects to be collected, which requires human experience and by autonomous collection, which requires expert skill. In this context, we developed a method to maintain a target depth by controlling the attitude of the ROV using quaternions as an aid during underwater exploration. In addition, a depth camera was used to measure the distance to the object.
