題目(Title) | Transition from academia to industry: lessons and tips |
概要(Abstract) | After earning a doctoral degree, there is also an option to pursue a career in the industrial sector rather than aiming to become a university faculty or a researcher in academia. However, because of differences in required skills and work culture, some ex-academics find it difficult to work effectively in the industry.
In this lecture, I would like to talk about my experience in research and study abroad in academia, my experience at a company (MathWorks), the differences in required skills in industry and academia, and transferable skills that students can learn during their MSc/PhD. |
