Title: Food Calorie Estimation Based on Image Processing for Dietary Assessment
Abstract: People across the world are becoming more and more interested in watching their weight, eating healthy and avoiding obesity. As overweight and obesity are major risk to human health, a system that can measure calories and nutrition in every day meal would be very useful. Recently, calorie and nutrition intake measurement systems for overweight and obesity treatment have been the focus of many studies. In this presentation, we propose a nutrient intake measurement system that can help obese patients, dietitians and ordinary people to easily measure and manage daily food intake. The proposed system is composed of a food classification method as well as a volume estimation method based on ordinary chopsticks, used during everyday meals, to measure the food volume and classify the food type through various image processing techniques. Our system requires the user to take only a single picture of the meal with the chopsticks in the picture. By using a food picture and chopsticks on the food, our system deals with the challenging volume measurement step of existing calorie estimation system. The results of our experimental trial showed 61.66% accuracy for food classification and for the container diameter measurement, the system achieved an average error rate of 9.75%.

title: A Proposal of Data Transmission in Parallel Line Fed Wireless Power Transfer

abstract: We propose a data transmission for parallel line fed wireless power transfer system. We focus on power receiver-to-source transmission link and employ the load modulation as a modulation scheme. To transmit data back to the power source from receiver, the power receiver periodically switches its load impedance to modulate the electric current, which can be observed at the source using envelope detection. The load modulation generally has a trade-off between modulation index and power transfer efficiency. Numerical analysis showed that, the system is able to achieve sufficiently a high modulation index while maintaining a high power transfer efficiency, if appropriate switching values for load impedance are employed. This result clarifies feasibility of the proposed load modulation.

title: An optimization method for maximizing network resources on OpenFlow networks
abstract: OpenFlow is able to dynamically configure and manage networks by defining flow entries on switches from controllers. Generally, drop entries are installed on border switches that are located between external and internal networks. However, there is a possibility that network administrators cannot install flow entries on the border switches due to limited flow table size. Consequently, unwanted traffic which must be discarded on the switches will be forwarded into internal switches. The traffic will waste network resources including link bandwidth. In this presentation, we introduce a method for decreasing unwanted traffic and maximizing capacities of available flow tables on an OpenFlow network by reassigning the installed drop entries.

title: Leveraging Static Probe Instrumentation for VM-based Anomaly Detection System
abstract: One main security threat in virtualization environments of cloud computing is the guest Virtual Machines (VM). For public IaaS, the challenges to monitor guest VM are more complex, since the cloud administrators are restricted to interfere guest OS operation while need to cope with the semantic gap it created. Although there are already many suggested scheme for VM monitoring, we believe they are still not applicable in public IaaS environments because they either still have to execute special action inside guest VM or still not gave clear visibility into the system for better analysis result. In our research, we proposed a framework for Anomaly Prediction System using Static Probe Instrumentation monitoring technique within Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM). Specifically in this Seminar Presentation, I will present our preliminary results where we evaluate feasibility, effectivity, efficiency, scalability, impact and adaptability of this framework. The results not only shows basic characteristic of our framework, but also gave hindsight on its weaknesses and highlight our next plan to improve the system.
