Overview of the project:
This project develops an interface to perform registration between the coordinate system derived from the CT image and from an optical tracker. Students will use an open source platform called 3D Slicer and existing libraries to implement a surgical navigation system and perform evaluation experiments using a bone phantom simulating an orthopaedic surgery.

Project name:
Development of an interface for quantitative evaluation of endoscopic surgery using 3D endoscope
-
Overview of the project:
3D endoscope with the capability of stereoscopic view has been increasingly prevalent in endoscopic surgery. Our lab is developing a system that allows 3D recording and quantitative analysis of the movement of the forceps during the entire surgery (typically for a few hours) by combining camera calibration and automatic tool tracking in the endoscopic image sequence. This project, working with surgeons, will develop an interface to evaluate the system using the actual surgical video, which also helps improve the system.
