title: [Paper Introduction] Worldwide Pose Estimation using 3D Point Clouds
abstract: This study address the problem of determining where a photo was taken by estimating a camera pose with respect to a large geo-registered 3D point cloud. The proposed method scales to datasets with hundreds of thousands of images and tens of millions of 3D points through the use of two new techniques: a co-occurrence prior for RANSAC and bidirectional matching of image features with 3D points. The authors evaluate their method on several large data sets, and show state-of-the-art results on landmark recognition as well as the ability to locate cameras to within meters, requiring only seconds per query.

title: Lifting 3D Manhattan Lines from a Single Image
abstract: This paper propose a novel and an efficientmethod for reconstructing the 3D arrangement of lines extracted from a single image, using vanishing points, orthogonal structure, and an optimization procedure that considers all plausible connectivity constraints between lines. Line detection identifies a large number of salient lines that intersect or nearly intersect in an image, but relatively a few of these apparent junctions correspond to real intersections in the 3D scene. The research group use linear programming to identify a minimal set of least-violated connectivity constraints that are sufficient to unambiguously reconstruct the 3D lines. The developed algorithm that can work on real images, with a total computation time of 1 second per image.

title: Construction of English Text-To-Speech Synthesis for Flexible Control of Speech Intelligibility and Speaker Individuality
abstract: A cross-lingual speech synthesis technique, which can generate one language's speech using another language's speech, is expected to apply to the speech-to-speech translation and the dubbing of foreign movies. Because a trade-off relationship between speech intelligibility and speaker individuality is well-known in speech synthesis, it is expected that importance of each factor is different among the applications of cross-lingual speech synthesis. However, the flexible control of those factors is difficult since conventional methods consider only the individuality. Therefore for flexible control, I propose English Text-To-Speech (TTS) synthesis method using both native English speech and English speech by Japanese. I will investigate the features that affect to those factors in TTS that can synthesize speech from text, and I will develop English TTS for flexible control of speech intelligibility and speaker individuality.

title: Development of Low-Cost and Accurate Posturography Using Kinect for In-Home Rehabilitation of Balance Disorders
abstract: Low-cost, compact, and accurate systems for in-home rehabilitation are social needs. We developed a system that measures a user's posture, anterior bending angle, lateral folding angle and center of pressure (COP), by integrating Kinect and Wii Balance Board (WBB). In this study, we first compared the performance of Kinect and an optical motion capture system (MoCap) to validate the accuracy of the developed system. The result showed that the angular data measured by the Kinect and the Mocap had a high correlation coefficient. Next, we investigated the relationship between the angular data and the COP to confirm the necessity of measuring the COP by using WBB. The result suggests that it is not possible to estimate the angles from COP accurately. Overall results suggested that our system has a possibility to provide affordable in-home rehabilitation.

title:Development of cell sorting technology using optical tweezers with the particle three-dimensionnal positon estimation and speedup of the sorting
abstract:In medical and pharmaceutical field cell sorting becomes crucial technology for separation of specific specimen among mixed samples. But in conventional sorting methods, there are some fears. For example, it is a limitation of target size and possibility to damage on a sample. In this study, we propose a sorting method to separate objects using optical tweezers. In previous research, it is proposed to separate specimen using optical tweezers from highly mixed sample dispersed in water by flow cell of ¦ÌTAS technology. However, the method has a problem about a trapping rate and sorting speed. I propose methods to increase a trapping rate by using the particle three-dimensional position estimation. And I propose method to speed up of sorting also.

abstract: In this presentation, I will propose a Mobile Payment System for disaster areas. One of the major problems of people in disaster areas is not having cash on hand to pay for necessary amenities e.g. groceries, clothing, and medical supplies etc. Part of the problem is a result of non-availability of network infrastructure which makes it impossible to carry out electronic financial transaction. Each user of the system will be able to do an electronic transaction for the purchase of an item using MANET and the payment is guaranteed by endorsement of many other users.

title:Pairing Method for Mobile Devices Based on Multi-sensor Fusion
abstract:We propose a method to make a pair among two nearby mobile devices based on multiple sensor information for instant direct communication. We sometimes use infrared data communication, QR codes, and Bluetooth to exchange email address, photos, and other data with a nearby person by using mobile devices. In addition, like Bump and LINE, applications which make a pair among nearby devices being shaked and start exchanging information among the pair gain a lot of popularity for its easy operation. These applications find the pairing partner based on the location of devices and the timestamp they are shaked. Therefore, only slight error on the positioning by GPS and the detection of shake leads to pairing failure and mispairing with unintended devices. To solve these problems, we propose a pairing method based on multi-sensor fusion scheme. Our method finds the partner based not only on location and timestamp but also on various information around the device such as sound, brightness, signal strength of Bluetooth and WiFi and acceleration and so on. Thus, even if slight error on one or two sensors occurs, our method can recognize the pairing partner accurately based on the other sensor values.

title: Proposal of a hunger degree estimation system based on activity information
abstract: In recent years, disturbance of the diet has become a problem in many countries including Japan. This problem is caused by the fact that people do eating activities unaware of their hunger state. Thus, realizing the system which estimates strength of the hunger state and recommends the appropriate meal at appropriate time could lead to improvement of the disturbance of the diet. However, it is impossible to obtain the degree of hunger by a commodity device such as a smartphone. Moreover, existing studies use various special devices or invasive procedure, but they still cannot quantify the strength of the hunger. Therefore, in this study, we aim to realize a system which estimates the strength of hunger of the user as the hunger degree, and recommends appropriate meal at appropriate time for the state of the user including the hunger state. To this end, we propose a method for estimating the current hunger degree of the user quantitatively by applying the behavior information which is obtained through the web system or SNS to the hunger degree estimation model. We construct the hunger degree estimation model of two estimation models: (üñ)a model to estimate a hunger degree from blood glucose level and (üò)a model to estimate a hunger degree from blood glucose level. from activity information. To investigate to what extent hunger degree is accurately estimated from blood glucose level, we measured the subjective hunger degree and blood glucose level with the blood glucose measurement sensor. As a result, it was shown that there is a strong positive correlation between the hunger degree and the blood glucose level.

title: PPC-based yield improvement by inserting multistage LUTs
abstract: Recently, due to the downscaling of process technology, techniques for yield improvement are demanded. This research aims at improving yield using PPC (Partially-Programmable Circuit) at the logic level. A PPC is made through inserting some Look-Up Tables (LUTs) and redundant wires in conventional logic circuits, which can modify stack-at-faults. However, the places and the number of LUTs to be inserted in PPCs have not been systematically studied yet. Accordingly, this research will study optimization methods to solve these issues, especially by inserting LUTs in a multistage manner. In this presentation, the characteristics and issues of PPCs are first explained, and then our approach and future directions are shown.
