Writing up research for publication in academic journals is an essential
part of scientific research. Only when the research has been presented for peer
consideration can it be considered to have reached some stage of fruition. The
“publish or perish” phenomenon is not without reason. The issue is to learn how
to efficiently and effectively present one’s research. The first part of the
presentation will describe an ESP approach to writing the research journal article
and the second half will be a hands-on workshop on using corpus linguistics and
genre analysis to achieve this.
