講演題目 A Mobility Management Architecture for the Internet
概要
A variety of approaches have been made in various kinds of access networks to create workable IP mobility solutions for mobile devices. Although most of these approaches are host-based, there is a perceived need for network-based IP mobility solutions. In this talk, I'll briefly describe why the two most obvious solutions to mobility management - really fast dynamic DNS and universal layer 2 mobility management - aren't practical for widespread, Internet deployment. I will focus on two basic approaches to mobility, describe a particular difficulty for mobility that comes from the nature of the historical Internet architecture, and synthesize an approach to mobility architecture that will satisfy mobility requirements of mobile nodes throughout the whole Internet.

Biography: Since 2001, Dr. James Kempf has been a Research Fellow at Docomo Labs USA. He is actively involved in IETF, has chaired 3 working groups in the area of mobility and wireless security, and served on the Internet Architecture Board for 2 years. Previously, Dr. Kempf worked at Sun Microsystems for 13 years where he was involved in a variety of research and advanced development projects, including a project in 1994 that built a SPARC-based laptop with tablet interface and a prototype 802.11 interface.
